In early 2015, Alpha Lifestyle Center made an investment in our brand and in our commitment to our customers. We sent Kelly to Mayo Clinic for training to become a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist. Every two years, additional Continuing Education Hours (CEH’s) are required for re-certification. Tobacco cessation resources are limited especially considering the percentage of adults addicted to nicotine products.
It is disturbing to note that nicotine addiction statistics may rise. This is a result of the surge of young adults experimenting, and becoming addicted to, electronic nicotine devices.
Since her initial 5-day certification at Mayo Clinic, Kelly has completed an additional 19 hours of Continuing Education and examinations. She is now Certified through April 2019. Her re-certification included study in the following tobacco cessation areas:
Epidemiology of Tobacco
Clinicians Guide to Helping Pregnant Smokers
COPD Update
Adolescent Tobacco Use
Alternative & Complimentary Therapies in Tobacco Use
Tobacco Use & Oral Health
Motivational Interviewing in Tobacco Cessation
Behavioral Counseling & Phamacotherapy
Smoking Cessation for Persons with Mental Illness
Special Populations & Tobacco Dependence
Smoking Cessation for Pregnancy & Beyond
Kelly is returning to Mayo Clinic this Spring to attend the 24th Annual Nicotine Dependence Conference and Global Tobacco Dependence Treatment Summit. It should be noted that attendance at the Summit is unnecessary since Kelly has already fulfilled the Continuing Education Hours through April 2019; she is attending solely to strengthen her knowledge and understanding of tobacco use and dependence to better support Alpha’s customers.
This is just another example of her commitment to excellence and her strive to elevate the Alpha brand. We know that Alpha Lifestyle Center is not just another laser stop smoking program; it is the premier stop smoking program! We challenge you to find anything close and we are proud to serve Michigan communities.
